Porto Slate SONAT 511 black, natural

Because of colour, structure and the possibility of achieving relatively big pieces, slate is being used in private residential areas as well as in larger installation projects (offices, schools, etc.). It is most widely used inside as flooring material but it also can be used as a wall element. Further applications would be counter tops, steps, window sills and wash tables. We stock the following sizes:

Standard sizes, edges sawn:

  • 300/300/ca.10mm in thickness (natural split*)
  • 400/400/ca.10mm in thickness (natural split*)
  • 400/400/10mm in thickness, calibrated
  • 300/600/ca.10mm in thickness (natural split*)
  • 300/600/10mm in thickness, calibrated
  • 400/400/ca.15mm in thickness (natural split*)
  • 300/600/15mm in thickness, calibrated
  • 300/600/ca.15mm in thickness (natural split*)
  • 300/600/15mm in thickness, calibrated

If it is necessary, the stone can also be calibrated. Other sizes and thicknesses on demand.

Slabs for individual cut to size products (e.g. steps and risers, window sills, wash tables etc.) are also obtainable and can be offered in the following thicknesses.

  • 20-25mm in thickness
  • 30-38mm in thickness

Skirtings, free lengths, edges sawn as well as one long edge honed and bevelled, 10mm in thickness.

  • 60mm high
  • 80mm high

Other surfaces of the stone are:

  • Brushed
  • Honed

* This natural stone cannot be split into a uniform thickness. With the approximate thickness we give a variation in thickness of +/-1.5mm. With such a variation in thickness, it is still possible to use the thin-bed method (glue-fixing-method) as the thickness variations still can be cleared/balanced with the glue.
